New 2023 Subaru Ascent

Even if you choose a smaller trim, you can still fit seven passengers in this large SUV. This vehicle combines all your favorite features from Subaru, including reliability, as well as the power and capability of a large SUV. If you’re looking for an SUV to meet your needs, then the 2023 Subaru Ascent could be the vehicle for you.

Trim Levels

The 2023 Subaru Ascent comes in eight trim levels, listed below:

  • Base Eight-Passenger.
  • Premium Eight-Passenger.
  • Premium Seven Passenger.
  • Onyx Edition Seven Passenger.
  • Limited Eight Passenger.
  • Limited Seven Passenger.
  • Onyx Edition Limited Seven Passenger.
  • Touring Seven Passenger.

You can refine these down to six trim levels if you consider only seating differences. Each trim level builds upon lower levels in terms of comfort, entertainment, technology, and performance. The Base trim level comes with the standard Subaru Ascent features, while the Touring trim level comes with the largest package of features, comforts, and technology for you to enjoy whenever you enter your vehicle.

Engine

All trim levels of the 2023 Subaru Ascent use the same engine. This engine is a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine. This engine is capable of putting out 260 hp and can also give you 277 lb-ft of torque. This engine gives the Base and Premium trim levels 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. With their heavier systems, all other trim levels get 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway using the same engine configuration as the first trim levels.

Performance

Beyond the power of its engine, the Subaru Ascent also comes with the ability to tow up to 2,000 pounds with the Base trim level, and up to 5,000 pounds with every other trim level. The vehicle also comes with Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive system, an X-Mode driving system to increase friction on low-friction surfaces. The Onyx Edition and higher trim levels also have Dual X-Mode to support driving in mud and snow more easily. All trim levels come with a 19.3-gallon fuel tank, four-wheel independent raised suspension, and ventilated front and rear brakes to increase the vehicle’s control.

Interior Space

The 2023 Subaru Ascent is a large SUV, so it has plenty of interior space. The Base and Premium trim levels come with 153.2 cubic feet of space for passengers and 75.6 cubic feet of space for cargo behind the front seats. The Onyx Edition trim level comes with 150.2 cubic feet of space for passengers and 72.8 cubic feet of space behind the front seats. Both Limited trim levels come with 153.2 cubic feet of space for passengers, and 75.6 cubic feet of space for cargo behind the front seats, if you don’t choose the optional moon roof.

All other trim levels and the Limited trim level with the moon roof have 150.2 cubic feet of space for passengers and 72.8 cubic feet of space for cargo behind the front seats of the vehicle.

Comfort

If you choose the “All-Weather Package” for any trim level above the Base, then you receive heated front seats as a standard feature. The Touring trim level also comes with ventilated seats to help you stay comfortable while driving and using your vehicle. All trim levels of the 2023 Subaru Ascent come with 19 cup holders, a cargo area underfloor storage tray, and a tri-zone climate control system to help control the temperature throughout the entire vehicle.

Entertainment

The entertainment system in the 2023 Subaru Ascent includes illuminated USB-A and USB-C ports in the front and middle rows of the vehicle, a Subaru Starlink 11.6 multimedia panel, with the higher trim levels such as the Onyx Limited and Touring having additional navigation features as part of the panel. For any trim level beyond the Base, you can also have 4G LTE Wi-Fi capability for the entire vehicle.

Finally, the first six trim levels come with a six-speaker system, though the Limited trim level has the option to take a Harman Kardon premium sound system, which comes standard on the Onyx Edition Limited and Touring trim levels.

Technology

Other technology the Ascent comes with includes smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless access, and a powered rear liftgate in trim levels above Premium, though it’s an optional feature on the Premium trim level. The vehicle comes with automatic up and down windows in the front, with anti-pinch protection, integrated controls on the steering wheel for the entertainment systems, and optional packages to increase comfort and convenience, which vary for each trim level you can choose.

Safety Features

Subaru has always been a safe and reliable brand, and this extends to the new 2023 Subaru Ascent. In this vehicle, you get Subaru EyeSight driver’s assisting technology, which includes features such as adaptive cruise control, lane centering, lane departure warning, automatic pre-collision braking, automatic emergency steering, and sway warning.
