2020 Subaru Ascent – Rugged Styling and Tech Features Galore

In its second year, the 2020 Subaru Ascent launches with all the latest and greatest features - and the beautiful styling to match. In fact, Subaru left nothing on the table in creating their flagship crossover SUV, elevating it far beyond all the competitors in its class. From dependable performance to safety features galore, this mid-size crossover SUV has it all.

Rugged Exterior Design

Across all four trim levels, the Subaru Ascent boasts bold styling cues from nose to tail. Starting at the front, this crossover leads the way with its projector-beam halogen headlights or LED steering responsive headlights, which are available on the Limited and Touring trims.

The rugged body lines are accented by black trim all around. On the Touring trim, the black trim switches to chrome in many places, including the side mirrors, adding balance to its exterior design.

With its 8.7 inches of ground clearance, this vehicle looks stately and provides a great view of the road ahead. Both the 18 and 20 inch rim options add to the beauty of the vehicle while ensuring it can maintain a firm grip on the roadway.

Comfortable Cabin Space

With its ample cabin space, this mid-size crossover SUV can shuttle around up to eight people in style. Depending on your selected trim level, you will be treated to six-way manually adjustable seats or eight-way power adjustable seats. In adding the All-Weather Package, you get an upgrade to heated seats at the front and back, keeping everyone comfortable through the cold season. Ventilated seats are available on the Touring trim level, which also comes with beautiful woodgrain-patterned accent trim.

Up front and in the second row, ample head and leg room gives everyone the space to stretch out and enjoy the ride. The third row is a bit more limited in space, though still functional, especially for the kids. For even more comfort, the tri-zone climate control is here to automatically keep the cabin space at the optimal temperature at all times. To make changes on the fly, the system allows you to adjust the fan speed and direction along with many other settings.

Dependable Performance

All trim levels receive the turbocharged 2.4L four-cylinder engine and Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive standard. Producing 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, the turbo engine can easily move this crossover around town even when fully loaded with passengers and packages.

In addition to having plenty of power for merging onto the freeway and passing slower vehicles, this capable driving machine can also tow up to 5,000 pounds. Four-wheel independent suspension keeps the vehicle well-planted while its ventilated front and rear brakes allow you to stop on a dime.

The Lineartronic continuously variable transmission provides seamless power on tap while allowing for a little bit of fun with its manual mode. X-MODE optimizes the performance of the engine, transmission, and all-wheel drive system, eliminating wheelspin and improving the driving experience.

Safety Features Galore

Safety is always a top priority for Subaru and their 2020 Ascent beautifully fits the bill. In creating this vehicle, they added many high-tech safety systems designed to make drives both safer and more enjoyable.

Their EyeSight Driver Assist Technology system, for example, is equipped across all trim levels and includes:
  • Adapative Cruise Control
  • Pre-Collision Braking
  • Lane Departure and Sway Warning
  • Lane Keep Assist
The High-Beam Assist system, available on the Limited and Touring trims, works with the EyeSight system to switch the headlight intensity as needed to stay safe on the road.

On all but the base model, this crossover has the STARLINK Safety and Security system, which offers automatic collision notifications and many other helpful functions. Further protection is provided through the Subaru Advanced Frontal Airbag System, side-mounted airbags, and seat-mounted front side airbags. The front seats have height and tilt adjustable head restraints that protect against whiplash in the event of a collision.

In creating this flagship crossover SUV, Subaru went above and beyond their usual offerings, adding 4G LTE Wi-Fi capability and much more. They also have many additional options to consider for your build, such as a Rockford Fosgate stereo system upgrade.
