2024 Subaru Outback Limited XT Review

September 13th, 2023 by

Today, we’re diving into the 2024 Subaru Outback, a vehicle that’s maintaining its tried-and-true formula for now while we eagerly await the all-new 2025 Outback, which promises exciting changes. In this blog, we’ll take a closer look at what hasn’t changed and what might be in store for the future.

A Familiar Face

The 2024 Outback might look nearly identical to the 2023 model, and that’s because Subaru has something special planned for the next year. The 2025 Outback is on the horizon, and it’s expected to bring a fresh design and new features. If you’re curious about what to expect in the upcoming model, keep an eye on our channel for a “Top Five Things I Want to See in the 2025 Outback” video, and make sure to hit that subscribe button!

Exterior Overview

Starting with the front, the 2024 Outback retains its signature sculpted LED steering-responsive headlights, complete with high beam assist. LED fog lights continue to illuminate the road ahead, and the large Subaru badge in the middle remains a prominent feature. Below, you’ll find the grill, which maintains the same design but with some slight changes in color and trim.

Under the hood, you have two engine options. The standard 2.5-liter boxer engine delivers 182 horsepower, while the 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine (available in the XT model) packs a punch with 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque.

Interior Comfort and Convenience

Inside the cabin, the 2024 Outback is business as usual. Subaru has stuck with the same interior design as previous models. While it’s a comfortable and functional space, some might be hoping for a more significant refresh, especially after almost five years of the same design. However, Subaru continues to offer a solid package with thoughtful features.

The seating surfaces, particularly in the limited trim, come in a two-tone combination of warm ivory and black leather with accent stitching. The driver’s seat is a 12-way power-adjustable seat with lumbar support, while the passenger enjoys an 8-way power-adjustable seat. Both front seats are heated, and the rear seats join in with their heating feature as well.

The 2024 Outback is not short on tech. It boasts an 11.6-inch infotainment display with navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Subaru’s advanced safety features, including the EyeSight driver-assist system. The system provides real-time information, including rear-seat passenger seatbelt status, ensuring everyone’s safety on board.

On the Road

When you hit the road in the 2024 Outback, you’ll notice that it drives much like its predecessors. The suspension, handling, and overall driving experience remain consistent, offering that trusty Subaru ride quality. One notable aspect is the CVT transmission, which some drivers might find a bit laggy when it comes to immediate power response. It’s not that the power isn’t there; it’s just the CVT’s delay in delivering it that can make it feel less spirited.

What Lies Ahead

While the 2024 Subaru Outback keeps many things the same, the anticipation for the 2025 model is building. Subaru enthusiasts are eager to see what changes the brand will introduce, both in terms of design and features. It’s a testament to Subaru’s loyal fan base that people are so invested in the future of the Outback.
